History and Genealogy

The Steels come from a very long line of ministers and church leaders. Freddie's ministry ancestors reach back to the late 1500's when His Great Grandfathers Rev. Dr.'s William and Gideon DeLaune were French Huguenots and pastors of Walloon churches in England. Both Freddie and Mary Gaye's ancestors were involved in church planting and support from the days of the Second Scottish Reformation and the earliest days of America's founding. Their ancestors also played prominent roles in the faith, politics and military efforts of Colonial America and beyond interacting closely with George Washington and others with varying levels of influence. Both families were Church planters when Freddie and Mary Gaye were young.
